Having an EV charger at home is not only convenient, but also saves you money.
Have your vehicle fully charged when you wake up in the morning and no need to wait in public charging stations.
With the right energy tariff from your electricity supplier and the smart chargers we fit working together, your vehicle charges when electricity prices are at their lowest.
An electric vehicle can be charged from a normal 3 pin domestic socket but it is not recommended. Domestic sockets were not designed for continuous use at the currents required for charging EV batteries.
Fastest power rating the majority of domestic supplies can support.
A 7kw charger will charge your vehicles battery up to 3x faster than a 3 pin socket.
Smart Chargers have built in communication to ensure software is always up to date and enables efficient charging.
76% of homes with a smart charger installed saw an increase in their overall value.
Book in for a free site survey using the button below. We will assess the area for the installation and gather all information we need for a quote.
Once we have completed the survey, we will send over a quote for the work ahead.
Upon confirmation of the quote, we will organise a date for the work to be done. Your new charger will usually be completed within 6 hours.
Once we have completed the work, your new charger is ready for action.
A list of our frequently asked questions regarding our EV charger installations, if you can’t find what you’re looking for just send us a message using the contact form below.
A full installation is usually completed, tested and ready to use within 6 hours.
It depends on the size of your battery and the power output of your charger.
A formula can be used:
Battery Size (kWh) / Charger Power (kW) = Charge Time (h)
Example:
Average sized battery of 64 kWh / 7kW = 9 Hours to 100%
(Depending on maximum charge rate of vehicles)
Again, this depends on the size of the battery and the rate you pay for electricity. Electricity prices can vary as we know, although at the time of writing Octopus Energy quote 7.5p per kWh for night charging & 39.35p per kWh for day charging.
Using the example battery above of 64kWh and using the night rate of 7.5p per kWh the cost for a full charge would be £4.80. The day rate would be £25.18.
Every installation will differ depending on the variables involved, which is why we offer our free site surveys to deliver an accurate quote.
We recommend to be wary of installers who quote a fixed rate as these can often incur extra costs further down the line.
The OLEV grant is a government backed initiative that contributes towards charger installations. The scheme was overhauled in April 2022 and is no longer available to homeowners (including people with mortgages) who live in bungalows, detached, semi detached or terraced houses.
But at the time of writing (October 2022) the grant is still available for people who live in a rented property or own a flat with dedicated off-street parking.
